How do you know it’s cold? When get out of the car and the condensation from your breath instantly freezes to you. -18 the thermometer said. Wow! That’s cold! But to the people here in Harbin China it just seems like another day. They are perfectly content to go about their business having fun and enjoying their lives in a bitter cold winter.

But the bitter freezing temperatures are what enabled them to have such an amazing festival at this time of year! The Ice Festival and the snow sculpture Expo are sites not to be missed. The skill with which these festivals are put on is astounding! The snow sculpture Expo is truly impressive. What people can do with simply a block of snow is mind-blowing.

But the true highlight of the festival’s is the Ice Festival and the Lantern Festival. What the people here can do with ice and light is amazing! And they even build in some very fun slides and tubing runs! And they’re not for the faint-of-heart they really get moving.

Overall a day in freezing weather could not be better spent then at the Harbin Ice and snow festivals!! But be warned:. Dress warmly!
