Do you enjoy standing in that long line when you get back from another country?  If you do then DON’T READ THIS ARTICLE!  However if you would rather use your time breezing through customs and getting on with your life after a long flight then READ ON!

There is an amazing app put out by the US government called Mobile Passport.  We at FarFromLocal have used it so many times there is no way to count.  If you do not have Global Entry then you MUST get Mobile Passport.  Here is how it works:

• Download the Free App to your cell phone
• On your way back to the country fill out the information (the first time will take a little longer as you have to enter your passport information and take a picture)
• Set a reminder to tell you to send your information when you land.
• Upon landing send your information via the app to TSA
• Exit the plane and walk to the same place as the rest of the cattle
• When you arrive in the TSA secure reentry area look for the Mobile Passport signs (or ask if you don’t see them)
• Walk up to that line, bring up the app which should now have a scanable QR code.  Set the brightness to maximum and walk up to the kiosk when called.
• Scan your phone.  Answer any questions and you get a number or receipt..
• Proceed to get your luggage.
• Move to the exit for a final check and hand the TSA agent your number or receipt.
• ALL DONE!

You will be shocked how much faster using Mobile Passport is!  It is free, easy to use, and speeds up reentry into the country sometimes by 30 min!  If you don’t have Global Entry, you MUST use Mobile Passport for easing the pain of US Customs.
