Every good adventurer needs an effective way to carry their gear.  Something big enough to carry your stuff but light and compact enough to suit your needs.  Enter Osprey.

Established in 1974, Osprey has been making top quality adventure gear for a long time.  An American company that sells packs around the world, Osprey has proven over time to be one of the most reliable and durable backpack manufacturers in the world.  Here at Far From Local we have taken the Talon 33 on countless journeys around the world and have never had even one issue with the pack itself.

The pack itself is a simple design with light weight straps and material.  There is ample room in the front of the pack for the largest of water bladders to fit (which are sold separately) between your gear and you.  The air vent design of the back helps keep you cool and the pack from resting directly on your back.  The chest strap keeps your shoulders from getting burned out.   The waste strap tightens effectively enough to release the weight from your shoulders even with the padding. The 33 isn’t the largest of the talon series but its large enough for a long day hike, or escorted trekking up to 7 days.  If you need to bring all of your own gear you’ll need something larger.  Fortunately for all of us Osprey has a pack finder that will help you find just the right pack for you!  There is a mesh expanding pocket on the back with can be used to hold wet gear or oddly shaped items.  When you bring the hood down over the top you can even put a pair of trekking boots in there for transport on the airplane.

Inside the hood is a mesh pocket which works wonderfully for carrying toiletries and essentials like first aid equipment.  The outside of the hood houses a large pocket which is very usable for quick access items.  When on the airplane you can put the base of the bag in the overhead so this large pocket faces out.  Anything you might need on the airplane (noise cancelling headphones, passport, phone, wallet) can be put inside the large top pocket for easy access on the airplane.  While trekking: snacks, headlamp, your phone, or other easy access items can fit into the pocket.  The straps easily secure bulky items like a coat between the hood and the pack.  You’ll need to get a rain cover separately to ensure your gear is always dry.

Several times at different points around the world people have asked what kind of backpack it is and where can they get one.  In China recently we were told it was the most useful pack that they had ever seen.  Ha ha ha, high praise in deed!  If trekking poles are your thing there is also a holder for those built into the pack.

But wait… there is more!  One of the most amazing things about this backpack is the warranty. It is all encompassing.  If for any reason you break your backpack you can send it to them for repairs free of charge.  Don’t believe me?  Click here to see for yourself.  Having taken this backpack on adventures in Egypt, Peru, Nepal, India, Australia, New Zealand, China, Guatemala, Tanzinia, El Salvador, Colombia, and Belize not to mention countless state side trips, Far From Local can absolutely recommend it. This backpack will truly be an amazing addition to anyone’s travel and adventure gear.  It’s comfortable, large enough to carry what you want and small enough to be considered your carry on or personal item.  Durable and light weight; Osprey backpack lines won’t let you down when you need it.
