How much fun is this place!!  The rolling hills, green grass, sheep, cows!  And the people!  They are so happy and friendly!  I have to say I’m impressed.

Walking up to the little building you’d never know the adventure in store for you.  As you enter there is a small cafe and some people hanging around.  The people greet you warmly and ask what your adventure will be that day… Of course we select the most adventurous trip they offer… The Black Abyss.  After some safety instructions and an opportunity to change into some stylish wet suits we are whisked away in a rumbly van to the staging area.   After some more safety instruction we hook up to the rope and down the throat of the cave we repel.  A tight squeeze welcomes us into the large glow worm cave.  Looking around you get a weird feeling from the glow worms dotting the ceiling.  Something I’ve never seen before.  It is truly mesmerizing as you stare at them, never being able to quite focus on them.  At this point the adventure had just begun.  Zip lining, black water rafting, some light waterfall climbing and a few tight squeezes, occasionally interrupted by small snacks and hot chocolate.  Overall it was such a fun and wonderful way to begin our

New Zealand adventure.  Totally worth the money, and very different that the Adventure Caving we did later on the south island.  This was a more refined experience with a lot of glow worms, the other was more of a raw cave with very few glow worms.  Either way, both experiences are REALLY FUN and i would highly recommend that if you are near you should do it!
